Grief counseling

Everyone is confronted sooner or later with loss in life and this loss is often accompanied by a grieving process. One automatically thinks of the loss of a loved one, but there are many other loss experiences. Just think of the loss of a relationship or marriage, having to let go of the dream of having children, the loss of a healthy body, the loss of a pet, etc. In addition, there can also be living grief. This is the case, for example, when someone receives a terminal diagnosis and knows there is only a certain amount of time left. The grieving process then begins, even before death.

Grief counseling is individual and fully tailored to the needs of the client. Every grieving process is unique and everyone has their own way of dealing with loss. What works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another. I know from experience that one cannot avoid the grieving process. One first has to go through the deep valley, but one can also crawl back out of this valley. Mourning takes a lot of energy and sometimes gets in the way of daily functioning. It is a process that one often cannot go trough alone, and grief counseling can help. During the counseling, I help you to gain insight in your grieving process, whatever form this may take, and I provide you with tools to make daily life bearable and livable again and to gain new, positive experiences.
